Police have made an arrest following a recent incident in Oakville.

Around 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, a Snapchat video began circulating of a male teen throwing a large steel construction sign from the overpass at Winston Churchill Boulevard and the QEW.

“Fortunately the sign landed in the grassy area which separates the merge lanes and the right lane of traffic on the highway, and did not strike any moving vehicles,” police say.

An investigation was launched and officers received “a huge influx of information” from the public.

On Friday, August 23, the accused was identified and arrested. He is charged with Mischief Under $5,000 and Common Nuisance.

The accused has been released from custody after being issued a court date.

Video footage of the incident was posted to the Oakville community on Reddit.

Police have thanked members of the public and the media for their assistance with the investigation.
