Police hunt for suspect in afternoon bank robbery in Burlington

Police are searching for a man connected to an afternoon bank robbery yesterday (Aug. 9).

A lone man entered the Royal Bank at 15 Plains Rd. E. in Burlington around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Halton Regional Police Service said in a press release.

The man demanded cash before leaving the bank out the rear door and fleeing the area on foot.

Police didn’t say if the man left with cash or how much cash was taken. There were no weapons seen or indicated during the robbery and there were no reports of physical injuries.

The suspect is described as a Black man in his late teens or early 20s and approximately five-feet-10-inches tall, 155 pounds with a skinny build. He was wearing dark clothing.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the robbery and who has witness information or dash-cam footage to contact the 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2316.
