Milton Fire

Halton Police have made an arrest related to a truck fire in early October in Milton.

Police were on the scene of an early morning fire in a parking lot at 326 Bronte St. N. on October 2, where they found a semi-trailer truck fully engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished by Milton Fire and a subsequent police investigation determined the fire to be arson.

Gasoline was also found to be poured over other semi-trailer trucks parked in the lot – although they were not set fire – and there was damage to a pickup truck parked next to the semi-trailer truck set ablaze.

Police made the arrest Sunday at a residence in Brampton. Kumar Vinit, 31, has been charged with two counts of arson and one count of mischief over $5,000.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation can contact the 1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at (905) 825-4777 ext. 2416.
