Halton police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect in an alleged hit-and-run in Milton Thursday morning.

Police say the incident occurred at around 9:15 a.m in the area of Trudeau Dr and Elsworthy Crossing.

According to police, “a black 4-door Mercedes (possibly a newer model CTS) was travelling south on Trudeau and failed to stop at the stop sign at Elsworthy, narrowly missing a school bus that had the right-of-way”.

The Mercedes continued onto the sidewalk, according to Halton police, striking a tree and then a parked car. The Mercedes allegedly failed to remain at the scene and carried on south on Trudeau Dr.

Police say the Mercedes will have damage to its front left corner.

“At the time of the incident, traffic was moderate and there were several school buses travelling the area as well as school-aged pedestrians on the sidewalks,” added Halton Regional Police. “The incident was captured by a residential security camera and the images shared.”

Police are asking for assistance in identifying the Mercedes and the driver. Witnesses can contact Constable Brian Lowerison at Halton Regional Police 12 Division at 905-878-5511, ext. 2405.
