Police spot suspect walking with large knife in hand, Oakville man arrested and charged

A 66-year-old man has been charged after police noticed a suspect walking through an Oakville neighbourhood with a large knife in his hand.

Halton Regional Police say they observed the suspect late Wednesday afternoon around 4 p.m. walking in the area of North Service Rd. and Churchill Blvd.

The suspect was spotted with a large kitchen knife in his hand.

“(The) suspect ignored orders to drop the knife and was placed under arrest,” Halton Regional Police Cst. Steve Elms told inhalton.com.

The suspect would eventually drop the knife after police continued to order him to do so.

A 66-year-old male from Oakville was charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.

The man was released pending an appearance in court.
