Police still searching for suspects who robbed Oakville jewelry store in hazmat suits

Police are appealing to witnesses as they continue to investigate a robbery in Oakville earlier this month.

Police are appealing to witnesses as they continue to investigate a robbery in Oakville earlier this month.

The incident happened on Thursday, February 6 at the Peoples Jewellers in Oakville Place Mall.

“At approximately 9:00 pm, two suspects entered the mall wearing white hazmat-type suits and proceeded directly to Peoples Jewellers,” police say.

“Once inside the store, one suspect began to smash a display case at the rear of the store with a crowbar. The other suspect sprayed a fire extinguisher directly at the store’s surveillance cameras.”

Police say the suspects ransacked the display case and fled the mall in a dark coloured SUV.

The suspects are described as:

  • Male wearing a black balaclava, white hazmat-type suit, black shoes with white soles, white gloves, and a black bag
  • Male wearing a black balaclava, respirator mask, white hazmat-type suit, black gloves, and black shoes

Officers are asking to speak with any witnesses who were in the area of the mall on February 6 between 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm.

“Video surveillance inside and outside of the mall shows several patrons watching two suspects as they attend and leave the mall. These patrons may be of assistance in identifying the suspects involved in the robbery,” police say.
