Hollywood movie legend and Italian bombshell Sophia Loren once reportedly said: “Everything you see I owe to pasta.”

With roots in ancient Rome and a complex history that evolved over centuries, Italy’s diverse cuisine can be explored during Festitalia’s Italian Culinary Tour, from pastas and pizzas to aracinis and cannolis.

Fourteen of Hamilton’s restaurants, bakeries, bistros, cafes and specialty shops are participating in the tour with a “Festitalia” menu or specialty items, including plenty of Italy’s popular traditional dishes and treats.

“Italian cuisine is on top of many peoples to do lists so Festitalia has created an Italian Culinary Tour to showcase the delicious diverse Italian cuisines that each of them offer,” it wrote on its website. “We encourage you to eat out at any and all of these participating culinary partners over the next month and indulge in endless Italian specialities.”

The culinary tour, presented by Carstar auto body repair, is taking place until Oct. 29.

For featured items during the tour, Radius, for instance, has a Linguine Amalfi, Nardinis has Festitalia Gourmet Bags and Sweet Paradise has Lemon Tiramisu.

Festitalia, volunteer-driven organization, aims to promote Italian culture and heritage in Hamilton.
