A retired Halton Hills grandfather plans on travelling more after winning a Lotto 6/49 jackpot.

Michael O’Brien from Georgetown won $69,176 in the Dec. 17, 2022, Lotto 6/49 draw.

O’Brien, a retiree, said he plays the lottery twice a week and this is his first big win.

“I realized I forgot to check the winning numbers and when I checked my ticket I was in disbelief,” he said while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings.

“The cashier was so happy for me,” he said about validating his win.

“Everyone around me was wondering how much I won. The news didn’t sink in until a few days after.”

He plans on taking more trips to Florida to visit his grandchildren and complete some home renovations.

“You always dream of the day your numbers will come up and they finally did.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Moore Park Convenience on Main Street in Georgetown.
