Road Closures In Burlington Due To The Good Friday Road Race

Burlington residents, and anyone who frequents the town, may want to take note of this upcoming road closure.

The annual Good Friday Road Race will result in road and lane closures on April 19.

Fairwood Place, in the area in front of Aldershot School will be closed from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. North Shore Boulevard West from Fairwood Place to Unsworth will also be closed from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Cars travelling to North Shore Boulevard West will be detoured at LaSalle Park Road and at Plains Road West. All other streets on the race route will have one lane open for local access.

There will also be local access to residences but access will be subject to race delays. Residents can get access to or from their homes to cross the race route by contacting the road marshal from the race committee in advance or on the race day. An escort vehicle will be sent to escort their vehicle through the closed section of the course.

Emergency Services access will be maintained at all times along the event route. In order to do so, vehicles parked illegally in the event area will be tagged or towed.

Halton Regional Police Service will direct traffic at major intersections and event marshals will help runners and motorists at multi-residential driveways and on side streets.

The 46th annual Good Friday Road Race Road is a premier family running event. It offers three different events, which are a 1 km Bunny Hop Kids Race, a 5 km race and a 10 km race. The event takes place at Aldershot High School.
