Rogers waiving roaming fees and more in wake of coronavirus outbreak

Telecommunications company Rogers says it's waiving roaming and long-distance charges in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. 

In an email to customers, Rogers says that between March 16 and April 30, the company will be automatically waiving all long-distance charges for wireless consumers and small business customers for calls to anywhere in Canada. It also says it will be waiving Roam Like Home and all pay-per-use roaming fees for all postpaid consumers and small business customers in all available destinations.

Rogers also says that services will not be suspended or disconnected for any customers experiencing financial difficulties over the next 90 days. 

"In addition, we will support our customers facing financial uncertainty because of Covid-19 with more flexible payment options," the company said. 

"We know you rely on our services and networks, and keeping you connected is critical now more than ever. We are actively monitoring our network performance and are ready to manage capacity quickly if we see greater consumer demand."

The company also said it's paying close attention to public health officials when it comes to operating its brick and mortar locations.
