Halton police hope that their presence in a rural part of Burlington will get drivers to slow down.

An enforcement campaign in the Kilbride area yesterday (March 10) led to one driver being pulled over who now faces various penalties.

According to police, the driver was going 86 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

As well, this driver was also ticketed for having tinted plate covers which obscure the reading of licence numbers.

Halton police point to crime statistics provided by the Ontario Traffic Council that even in good weather conditions serious accidents can occur when motorists travel at high speeds.

“Risk-taking behaviour like this causes serious collisions,” police said. “Slow down!”
