Salaries, benefits, expenses add up to $200,000 for Burlington mayor

City of Burlington financial data shows that Mayor Marianne Meed Ward received a total of $200,152 in runmeration and expenses last year.

Broken down further, the mayor was paid $180,045 in salary and benefits and $20,098 for general expenses.

The mayor’s payment topped the list for elected members of council in 2023.

As for the rest of council, the breakdown is as follows:










The different levels of remuneration for councillors vary based on benefit coverage due to age.

Combined, the total paid to all councillors last year was $733,484.

While this data shows the amount paid specifically through the City of Burlington tax base, all councillors and the mayor also receive payment for sitting on Halton Region council, with some also earning extra for sitting on committees such as the Halton Police Services Board and conservation authorities.

Halton Region is expected to release its data for 2023 payments next month.
