The Oakville and Milton Humane Society says it has found more abandoned rabbits that “desperately need” foster homes.

“We’re in urgent need of help: The Oakville & Milton Humane Society is currently facing an overwhelming number of rabbits in our care,” it wrote on its Facebook page on Oct. 12.

The animal welfare organization said it found many rabbits outside its facility, in parks and near stores.

For those who want to help, it said it will provide everything needed to “ensure a successful fostering experience, including food, litter, litter box, pen, bedding, water bowls, toys and enrichment.”

Animals in need of extra care and training are often placed in foster care before they are ready to be adopted, the organization said. They may be ill, have behavioural challenges, or are too young.

“Foster families help us to get these wonderful animals ready to find their forever homes,” it stated on its website.

The humane society’s goal is to find “great families for the animals that come through our doors needing a home.”
