Storytime just got “fabulous” at the Oakville Public Library (OPL).

And it’s as popular as ever with back-to-back performances of Drag Queen Storytime with Fay and Fluffy set for this Sunday (June 4) at the Glen Abbey branch, located at 1415 Third Line.

The event invites children to join the pair of drag queens for a “fun and interactive storytime” that will showcase books promoting the message of diversity, inclusion and acceptance.

“Fay and Fluffy especially strive to support families with LGBTQ2S parent(s) and gender-variant children by providing a welcoming and inclusive environment, with a focus on fun!,” said the OPL on its website.

Open to kids of all ages, from pre-school to adults, the event features a ton of laughs, songs, an opportunity to “shake your sillies out”, and a specially curated selection of their favourite books that show that reading is “FUN-damental!”

As well as drag performers, JP Fay and Kaleb Fluffy are experienced child educators. Fay is an educator with the Toronto District School Board and Fluffy has worked for many years as a child care provider.

“Education is always better served when there are many and diverse tools in the box to use,” they said on their website. “Fay and Fluffy’s Storytime is innovative, engaging and just plain fun.”

Based in Toronto, the drag stars have been performing Fay & Fluffy’s Storytime since Toronto Pride back in 2016.

The Canadian Screen Award winners have their own show on Youtube (The Fabulous Show with Fay and Fluffy) and also performed earlier this month at JUNIOR, one of Canada’s largest children’s festivals.

The first show, which runs from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., is for school age, preschool baby and all ages. The teen/adult show will follow at 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
