Residents looking to cycle down to Kerr Street and do a little shopping or enjoy one of the popular restaurants and dessert places but have no safe place to properly leaving their bikes need not worry anymore.

The Town of Oakville has come through with a bike corral to leave your bike and enjoy all Kerr St. businesses have to give.

A bike corral has been installed on Kerr Street at Harold Avenue.

“Safely park your bike while you run errands or go for a stroll,” said the Town of Oakville on social media.

The installation of the bike corral, which is located in a parking spot out in front of the Azores Market comes just ahead of Bike Month in Oakville, which is set to get rolling next Saturday (June 1).

The continuing pilot project can accommodate 10 to 12 bikes in about the same space as a parked car. They bike corrals, which have also been installed on Bronte Road near Marine Drive, will be in place throughout the summer and into the fall.

Oakville has over 260 kilometres of on-road bike lanes and off-road cycling paths for a wide array of cycling facilities.
