According to a report from Indeed, many employers are having a hard time filling certain roles in various industries across the country.
Brendon Bernard, an economist for Indeed, examined the five hardest jobs to staff based on regions across the country.
The rankings are based on the percentage of job postings per position that remained vacant 60 days or more after being posted.

According to Bernard, the five hardest job positions to fill in Ontario in ascending order are: civil designer, registered nurse, solutions engineer, senior geotechnical engineer, and senior test engineer.
According to the report from Indeed, 45 per cent of civil designer job postings, 45 per cent of registered nurse job postings, 46 per cent of solutions engineer job postings, 55 per cent of senior geotechnical engineer job postings, and 58 per cent of senior test engineer job postings remained vacant for 60 days or more.
Additionally, Ontario has seen strong growth in high-paying fields recently, particularly in the tech industry. However, in contrast, things are not very good for job seekers without a postsecondary education.
Engineering positions have been difficult to fill across the country, as some form of engineering job has made the top five list for every region including three times in Ontario, and twice in Western Canada.
In other parts of the country, software engineering manager jobs are the hardest to fill in Western Canada, with 57 per cent of job postings remaining vacant after 60 days; software developer is the hardest position to fill in Quebec, with 50 per cent of job postings remaining vacant after 60 days; and senior Java developer is the hardest position to fill in Atlantic Canada, with 50 per cent of job postings remaining vacant after 60 days.
