If you’ve stopped by the Burlington McDonald’s located at 689 Guelph Line recently, then you may have noticed some pretty big changes. The interior of this McDonald’s location was recently renovated in a major way. As a result, the restaurant has a whole new look and feel.

Most of the 10 McDonald’s locations across Burlington and Waterdown were renovated about six or seven years ago; however, the renovations at the Guelph Line location were quite unique.

“We were able to use one of the new décor packages that was brought over from Europe, there are only about five restaurants in Canada that have that same décor package,” Ryan Sgro, franchisee for all McDonald’s locations in Burlington and Waterdown (10 locations in total), said.

The décor package is called ‘Wood and Stone’ and, as its name suggests, it brought a lot of wood and stone to the restaurant. Sgro notes that this package brought a new modern look to the location.

“It’s very open, it’s bright, it’s very comfortable,” Sgro said.

To celebrate this new look, a grand opening was held on March 9. At the grand opening, there were some food specials for customers to take advantage; however, according to Sgro that’s not what the day was all about.

“It was less about that [the food specials] and more about the feeling in the restaurant.”

At the event there was a ribbon cutting ceremony, Batman and Wonder Woman were there, there was a raffle prize draw, and other fun activities – such as arts and crafts. All of which contributed to a new – family – experience that customers can now get when they come to this location.

“We like to say that we didn’t just open with a new dining room package, we also opened with a new experience,” Sgro said. “We’re trying to make it more of a family experience.”

In order to contribute to the family experience, Sgro notes that there are some other new initiatives that have been implemented at this location.

A few of these initiatives include a new ‘Guest Experience Leader’ position, where someone is in the lobby interacting with the customers, the location will also be hosting family nights.

These family nights will be held between 4 and 8 p.m., on the same night of every week, and will consist of a variety of activates including crafts, board games, meet the author events, and more.

These family nights will soon be rolling out at McDonald’s locations across Burlington.

“We’re finding that not every restaurant needs family nights, but there are specific ones that will be having family nights and the Guelph Line location is one of them,” Sgro.

Another new service that the Guelph Line location is offering, in order to enhance the customer experience, is table service.

“We’re also now offering table service so when you go to McDonald’s and you go to the front counter you don’t wait for your food, we let you sit down, get comfortable, and then we’ll bring your food out to you,” Sgro said.

And if that’s not enough, McDelivery started about six months ago through UberEats and it will soon also be available through SkipTheDishes.
