Time to Get Rid of Those Election Signs

It’s time to get rid of those election signs.

Now that the municipal election is over, we won’t be seeing election signs anymore for a little while.

All election signs in Burlington, Oakville, and Milton must be taken down by today, Oct. 25.

According to the Halton Region, to get rid of election signs residents can contact the political organization that provided the sign and request that they remove the sign, and stakes, from their property.

If residents want to dispose of election signs themselves, the Halton Region asks that they follow the directions below:

  • Plastic and film plastic signs can be placed with your regular garbage for collection, they are not recyclable.
  • Cardboard signs can be placed in or beside blue boxes for collection.
  • Wooden stakes can be put out on your scheduled bulk waste collection day.
  • Metal stakes can be disposed of at the Halton Waste Management Site. Do not put metal stakes in your garbage or blue box, they can be a hazard for collection crews.
