5. Goodfellas

The popular Streetsville Neapolitan wood oven pizza restaurant that's known for its rustic-chic interior, homemade southern Italian dishes and exclusive Italian wine selection, officially opened its doors in Halton at 22 Ontario St. S., across from the Milton Mall, in a former Re/Max realty office. Finally. It’s an ideal place to break all of your new year’s resolutions. With authentic Neapolitan wood oven pizza, the menu focuses on authentic Southern Italian cuisine. A variety of legit Napoletana pizzas include the Margherita Pizza, topped with San Marzano sauce, mozzarella fiore di latte, fresh basil and extra virgin olive oil. You’ll also find Romano pizza and homemade pastas, all made in-house. The Maccheroni alla Carbonara pasta dish includes pancetta, egg yolks, pecorino romano, and black pepper. The mozzarella di bufala, and parmigiano-reggiano cheeses are some of the ingredients they use imported directly from Italy. Goodfellas boasts an extensive Italian wine selection which pairs beautifully with great eats.

4. Paradiso

Paradise is just a restaurant away! While this may be a little more on the Italian side of the Mediterranean, the Greek influence is definitely there. Located in charming downtown Burlington, this menu is lined with delicious options, top to bottom. With dishes like crab ravioli and braised beef gnocchi, your pallet will be on edge from first bite to last. Going with a small group of friends? Why not try their Paradiso Board? With items like house made chicken liver pate, chorizo sausage, hummus, lamb meatballs, gorgonzola, house made pickles and bread for accompaniment, it’ll have something for everyone!

3. Raging Olive

This fusion resto constantly surprises me. While it claims to be a Mediterranean restaurant, there are some brilliantly cooked Indian options on this menu that make it more than worthy of its spot on this list. Tandoori Salmon, one of the better Butter Chickens I’ve had in a long time, and a Madras Curry Penne Pasta that simply blew me away! That penne was an unorthodox surprise, but with the perfect balance of cream and curry, it almost seemed as though this is how it was always meant to be had; pure genius!

2. Kerr Street Cafe

Kerr Street Cafe and sister company Brothers’ Coffee Roasters (their Notorious espresso blend is fire!) are known for being on point. They plate their meals beautifully and even offer bike racks out front. Their famous all-day breakfast includes French Toast, Chia Pudding, and Pancakes (with rosemary custard, local fruit, bee pollen, creme fraiche). There's also an enormous slice of Healthy Toast, served on sourdough with hummus, alfalfa sprouts, cucumbers, etc. It's equal parts superb and super-filling. Lunch offers up salads, the Burger Queen, a fish burrito, and a smoked chicken and brie sandwich. This Kerr Village staple, featuring a cafe and restaurant, has such a relaxing atmosphere (with plenty of natural light) it’s second only to a day at the spa. Or a day trip to New York City, because it feels like I'm at a posh cafe near Columbia University. The resto is serving dinner and all I have to say is, it’s about time! If you haven’t been, what are you waiting for?

1. Thai Senses

Just because you’re good at one thing, doesn’t mean that you can’t be good at other things too. This resto is proof of just that. While the broth here was lighter, the ingredients were more pronounced. Green and yellow onions with delicious noodles were accompanied by squid, shrimp, and muscles. Are you a seafood lover looking for a different style of pho? Then this may be an interesting option for you in the city.
