This is the thickest patty I’ve seen in a minute. Champs has more than 3,000 square-feet to accommodate 200+ people … Go big or go home, right? I’m consistently surprised by the eats at this bowling alley/sports bar/family entertainment complex, where creative pub grub - not alley food - is served. On that note, I was pleased to learn the food is made in-house. I had the Champ Burger, with the aforementioned beef patty, topped with cheese, lettuce, tomato, diced onions and pickles. It arrived served on a lightly roasted bun … yummers. Now that was a win!
This long-running Fairview St. pub has a loyal following, and it’s a family-friendly place, with lots of booths and plenty of sports enthusiasts by the bar. Servers know the regulars by name. Mostly known for fish and chips, the casual restaurant offers super-friendly service. Baked Bacon Mac and Cheese arrives in a cast-iron skillet with a cute little mitt. Clearly, it’s been in the oven. It has a four-cheese blend, elbow macaroni, bacon, and house-made cheese sauce. It’s delicious. There’s no salt, and I’m down with that because bacon is salty and I’d rather no salt than too much. Next time you’re in the mood for something hot, cheesy, and filling, you should try it.
This small, yet charming Greek restaurant offers fantastic service that is both professional and personal. With their positive attitude comes a menu that will be sure to delight a variety of taste buds. Pizza is often cited as an Italian dish, but some of the handcrafted Greek style pizzas here will grab your attention immediately! Thin crust with toppings that taste fresh and flavourful, it would be a missed opportunity to pass these on the menu. Their Kalamari is delightfully crispy, but it’s the meats that really come to the fore-front. The Skaras Pikilia is a meat feast of pork or chicken souvlaki, lamb chops, and Greek sausage; any takers?
While the original pho here is quite textbook, it’s the satay pho that really grabbed me by the taste buds! Having the option to choose from either is always nice, but if you’re feeling a little adventurous, the satay option is more than worth a try. A milky coconut flavour sets in with every spoonful and o my is it delightful! If the aroma doesn’t get you, the flavour will. Get it to go and enjoy it at home.
This Ford Drive joint opened in 2016 and is now a go-to spot for a quick sandwich in southeast Oakville. After driving past numerous times, I finally decided to check it out and dude, have I been missing out! The combination of tahini, garlic sauce, and hot sauce drizzled over fresh chicken, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, and turnips sent me over the edge. You’ve got to try this shawarma, and order it fully loaded.
