Top 5 Hottest Restaurants in Oakville, Burlington, and Milton: August 25 – 31
Here are the 5 hottest restaurants in Halton for the week of August 25 to 31, based on the amount of organic page views and searches these restaurants received on inhalton.com.
The meat tastes as if it’s been marinating overnight and boy, oh boy, does the flavour come through. The thinly sliced chicken is the best part of the meal, hands down. This shawarma - served in a small pita - needs no sauce or extra fixings to make it come alive. I had mine with a garden salad and skipped the rice. Owner/chef Nelson Philipose has created a great casual dining experience. Definitely check out the Raging Olive for a sit-down meal, complete with cozy English pub booths and wonderful service.
There’s glamorous, and then there’s Cucci. It’s a high-end modern Italian restaurant that will be sure to impress the hardest-to-score dates. This Bronte gem is absolute perfection. Voted one of the best restaurants in Canada (no pressure!), you won’t be disappointed with the offerings from Chef Erik Mauke. The food is on point, and so is the libation I chose. The location on Jones St. makes it perfect for dinner, followed by a stroll along the harbour and a kiss (or seven) by the water. Perhaps the live piano will set the mood … staff are very attentive and willing to go the extra mile. The restaurant offers private dining for special occasions. You’ve got to get dressed and head to Bronte.
This Black Angus beef burger was fresh and uncomplicated. It tasted like a burger handed to me at someone’s backyard BBQ. Friendly staff made me feel welcome to stay for as long as I needed, while simultaneously chatting up regulars. All dinners come with fries, beans and coleslaw (gotta love a place where substitutions are allowed at no extra cost!). This is why some places stick around longer than others. This family-run resto has been serving up southern BBQ for more than 20 years. If you need a burger fix, this is the spot.
This long-running indie cafe is known for its array organic, free-trade coffee plus its medley of cheap sandwiches ($6.95). If you’re indecisive, bad news: you can also get hot sandwiches, a panini or a melt (open face, with more meat and cheese, Sue says!). All are made to order once you select an option or three. We kept it simple with a turkey sandwich, which came with lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, and alfalfa sprouts. It’s fresh, healthy, and a great option if you need a break from the deep fryer. You’ll find very friendly service, with staff eager to customize and answer questions, plus an array of seasonal drinks and classic bevvies. Given its absolutely amazing location near the corner of Brant St. and Lakeshore Rd., there’s limited seating.
The hand-stretched pizza bread is all I need to get by … i’ve got a love jones for savoury snacks and the Zucchini Bruschetta is right up my alley. It has diced yellow and green zucchini, red onion, goat cheese, and fresh basil on a toasted garlic crostini. Yum! Tavolo, known for its perfectly perfect margherita pizza and fried calamari, also has a divine dessert offering: house-made doughnuts. They’re tossed in sugar and served atop Nutella and a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. While I’ve never been a doughnut person (except at The Ex each summer, because Tiny Tom Donuts are a national treasure!), these will convert the saltiest salt enthusiast. On the board at Tavolo (it’s the most generous serving we’ve seen in town, by far!) you’ll find prosciutto, culatello, soppressata, mortadella, olives, pickled vegetables, Italian cheese, and … wait for it … savoury donuts.
