A Toronto woman has been arrested in connection with the hit-and-run death of an 81-year-old Burlington man.

Halton Regional Police have not released the name of the woman who has been charged with careless driving causing death and falling to stop after an accident resulting in death.

The department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit made the arrest after several days of searching for a vehicle they believed was involved in the deadly incident.

Photos of the alleged vehicle were widely circulated after the 81-year-old cyclist was struck and killed under the QEW bridge at North Shore Blvd. around 2:30 p.m. on May 18.

At the time police said a vehicle involved did not remain on the scene and that they were searching for a silver Volkswagen Jetta.

Late tonight (May 24) police made the arrest. Investigators have not said why the name of the person charged is being withheld.
