An Oakville woman is celebrating a lottery win but says she forgot about the buying the ticket in the first place.

Phyllis Virginillo was at the bank the day after the Aug. 23 Lotto 649 draw and says she felt the ticket in her pocket.

“I quickly pulled out my phone and checked my numbers. I could see, one by one, things were matching up,” said Virginillo while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

“I wasn’t sure and it was kind of hard to believe.”

Virginillo headed to the store to check her ticket and was shocked to learn that she had won  $100,000 with Encore – and a free ticket, too.

Plans are underway for the windfall.

“I would love to take my husband to Italy, where I was born,” said Virginillo.

“I haven’t been back in years.”

She’s also planning to hit up a poker tournament in Montreal in “high style” and pay off her debt.

This is “a dream come true,” said Virginillo.

The winning ticket was purchased at Food Basics on Kerr St.
