Trio Sought in Burlington Music Store Theft

A trio of suspects – who might be in a band – stole more than $5,000 worth of music gear from a Burlington store and Halton police are asking the public to help identify them.

“There’s some planning that went into this,” said Const. Naresh Dabas from the district response unit which is focusing on retail crime as Halton police are cracking down on shoplifting across the region.

The incident took place on Dec. 16 at 3:10 p.m.

That’s when the suspects – two male, one female – entered the Long & McQuade store at 3180 Mainway.

They selected an electric guitar, worth $4,550 and an H&K TubeMeister Deluxe amp worth $1,249 and left 15 minutes later without making any atttempt to pay, investigators allege.

A blue Honda CRV – with no licence plates – was their vehicle of choice.

Police typically deal with stolen items such as TV sets and baby formula.

As for guitars, “it doesn’t happen that often,” Dabas said.

The first suspect is male, white, in his 20s. He stands 6-feet, weighing 180 pounds, with dark hair. He was wearing a light jacket, hoodie, faded jeans, and black boots.

The second suspect is female, white, in her 20s, standing 5-foot-6, weighing 120 pounds. She was wearing a light blue shirt, three-quarter length jacket, grey toque, and sunglasses.

The third suspect is male, white, in his 20s, standing 5-foot-10, weighing 200 pounds. He was wearing a dark hoodie, jacket, and pants.

Police allege the third suspect left the store with the amp, while the woman departed “shortly thereafter” with her jacket wrapped around the guitar.

The first suspect walked out empty-handed.
