A long-time fan of the TV game show The Price is Right provided Maria Pantin of Burlington with all the inspiration she needed.

“Growing up, my dad and I watched the Price is Right all the time,” Pantin explained.

One of the most popular stunts on the show is when contestants get to play the game of “Plinko” to earn big prizes. While the version of Plinko provided by Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) is a little different, it still proved to be a winner for Pantin.

Pantin was a recent winner in the instant scratch game (game #2266) and has come away with a $200,000 prize.

The OLG $5 Instant Plinko combines scratch play with prizes revealed in-store by an animated chip drop on the lottery terminal screen and potentially, the chance to drop a chip on a real Plinko board at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

“To be honest, I’m still in disbelief!” she said.

She said she’s been playing the lottery with her husband for a couple of years and when they decided it was time to check their ticket, they dropped into a local store.

“Initially, my husband thought I won a free ticket,” she recalled. “The machine read ‘Big Winner’ and the cashier walked us through the winner process. It was so surreal – I never thought I’d win anything big!”

The winning ticket was purchased at Friend’s Convenience on Guelph Line in Burlington.
