Two suspects have been arrested after fleeing from police in Burlington.

Two suspects have been arrested after fleeing from police in Burlington.

On Wednesday, April 24, 2019, according to police, at approximately 1:17 a.m., a uniformed officer was driving in the area of Plains Road West near Daryl Drive in the Burlington.   

The officer observed a black Dodge Ram pickup truck and tried to stop the vehicle for a highway traffic act offence.  

However, police say the vehicle failed to stop for the officer and fled the area at a high speed.  

Shortly after, at around 1:26 a.m., a concerned citizen from the Snake Road area contacted police when this same truck drove on to a front lawn. 

Police say the vehicle was left running with the lights on and that the occupants fled the area on foot. 

Police then flooded the area and set up a perimeter.  

The canine unit attended the scene and tracked for more than an hour until the two occupants were located hiding near the Notre Dame Motherhouse.  

Both occupants were arrested shortly before 3:00 a.m. without incident.

It has been confirmed that the truck was stolen from Hamilton and break and enter tools were located within.

Two suspects have been identified and are facing the following alleged charges.

Kyle Hunt (29) of Hamilton

  • Flight from police
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Weapons dangerous
  • Possession of property obtained by crime (over $5,000)
  • Possession of break and enter tools 

Ashley Wilson (25) of Hamilton

  • Possession of property obtained by crime (over $5,000)
  • Possession of break and enter tools 

Both the accused parties were held for bail and appeared in the Milton Provincial Court on Wednesday, April 24, 2019.  

Police say Hunt was remanded into custody and will appear in bail court on Friday, April 26.  

Wilson was also remanded into custody and appeared on Thursday, April 25, 2019.
