Uber is implementing new safety measures in order to ensure they can safely return to serving the public, and help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Starting on May 18, everyone who is in an Uber–whether they’re driving or riding as a customer–will be required to wear a face mask.

Further, both passengers and drivers will be required to ensure their mask covers their nose and mouth.

According to a release from Uber, these measures are intended to help protect the health and safety of both the passenger and the driver.

Additionally, customers will no longer be permitted to sit in the front seat, in order to help prevent person-to-person contact as much as possible.

This means there will be one fewer seat in every vehicle–something those travelling in groups should be mindful of.
