If you frequent the Lakeshore Road area in Oakville regularly, there is another upcoming road closure you’ll want to take note of.

According to the Town of Oakville website, Lakeshore Road West will soon be closed to vehicles from Navy Street to Dunn Street.

This closure will come into effect on April 15 and will be in place until Nov. 15, 2019.

The town’s website noted that Church Street and Robinson Street can be used as alternate routes during the closure.

This closure is a result of the first phase of the Lakeshore Road Reconstruction and Streetscape Project.

This project commenced on March 12. The project, as noted on the town’s website, is a result of Lakeshore Road East coming to the end of its lifespan and requiring major reconstructions.

After undertaking extensive research and public consultation, the council approved the final design for the project in April of 2018.

The reconstruction will be completed in two phases over a two-year time period. Phase one (between Navy and Dunn streets)is being carried out in the spring and fall of 2019, and phase two (between Dunn and Allan streets)is being carried out in the spring and fall of 2020.
