A 15-year-old charged with a carjacking in Burlington now faces more charges in connection with a similar crime in Hamilton.

Events unfolded in the parking lot of Burlington Arena on Sunday (Oct. 29) afternoon when an SUV driver was confronted by three males.

One of the males pointed a gun at the victim and demanded the keys of the SUV then fled the area with the stolen vehicle. The accomplices left the scene in a pickup truck.

Later, the stolen vehicle was found in Hamilton and the suspects were observed near the scene. When officers moved in to make an arrest the suspect vehicle — a white Mercedes — sped off striking the Halton police cruiser. There were no injuries.

Then, that evening, police believe the same Mercedes was used to steal another SUV in Hamilton.

In this case, police say the Mercedes blocked the path of a Lincoln Navigator in the area of Garth St. and Twenty Rd.

Police say the suspect got out of the Mercedes and assaulted the driver of the Lincoln before making off with that vehicle. The victims received minor injuries.

Officers recovered the abandoned Lincoln a short time later. The Mercedes was also a stolen vehicle.

Following up on leads, police arrested a 15-year-old male from Hamilton. A gun was also recovered.

The teen, who cannot be named, has since been charged with several counts of robbery with a firearm as well as failing to comply with a probation order, and possessing a firearm contrary to a probation order.

Police are still searching for other suspects connected to these crimes.
