UPDATE: Police Searching For Two Suspects Following Distraction Theft Incident in Burlington

Halton Police are searching for two suspects following a distraction theft incident that occurred in Burlington recently.

On May 20, 2019, an 87-year-old man was shopping at a garden center in Burlington. 

According to police, the two suspects were in line behind the victim where they managed to observe his personal identification number. 

And after following the victim to the parking lot, the suspects engaged in conversation with the victim about dropping some cash while at the store. 

Police say the female suspect then put the ‘found’ money into the victim’s wallet and walked away with the male suspect. 

The victim went home and discovered that his financial cards were missing and contacted police. 

The suspects immediately used the financial cards in Hamilton, and in the Halton and Peel Regions to make cash advances and retail purchases. 

Police say the loss is estimated to be $3,300.

The male suspect is described as having olive complexion, being in his late 30s to early 40s, being between 5’4” and 5’6”, having a medium build, being between 160 and 170 pounds. Police say the suspect has a black beard, and was wearing blue jeans, a tan coat, a black shirt with a logo, and a black baseball cap.

The female suspect is described as being white, in her mid to late 30s, between 5’4” and 5’5”, having a thin build, and weighing between 120 and 130 pounds. Police say the suspect has long hair with dark roots, and blonde tips, that was up in a ponytail, and was wearing a blue jacket, a tan baseball cap, blue jeans, and a white cross body strap purse.
