A suspect is on the loose after a hit-and-run in Oakville and Halton police are asking witnesses to come forward.

The victim is a 22-year-old Hamilton man, said Det. Barry Malciw, adding it’s “believed to be only one suspect.”

No children are involved in the case, said Malciw, confirming there was “only one person hit.”

The incident took place on Oct. 25 at 2:20 p.m. in the Palermo area.

Emergency crews were sent to Grand Oak Trail and Greenwich Dr., where they found the man who was struck by a car.

Paramedics treated the victim – who suffered minor injuries – before taking him to hospital. He was released the same day.

Investigators allege the victim was involved in a physical confrontation with the driver of the suspect vehicle minutes before the collision.

The confrontation is believed to have taken place in a townhouse complex northwest of Grand Oak Trail and Greenwich Dr.

The suspect vehicle is described as a white Ford Focus with tinted windows — it has a broken rear tail light.
