An Oakville man found out using the birthday dates of those closest to him to select his lotto numbers can pay off big time.

Oakville’s John Sirman is $3,841,27 richer after winning the top prize in the Lotto 6/49 draw on June 15, 2022. He also won $5 on his Encore selection, bringing his total winnings to $3,841,278.

“My winning numbers were a combination of my wife and children’s birthdates,” shared the father of two while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect his winnings.

The 72-year-old retiree said he was surprised to discover his huge win.

“My wife was surprised too! It’s very nice,” he smiled.

Sirman said he plans to share his winnings with his children.

The winning ticket was purchased at Piggy Mart on Lakeshore Road in Oakville.
