A  shortcut used by Oakville drivers to get across the train tracks will be closed for up to two weeks.

The temporary road closure will be on Chartwell Rd. north of Cornwall Rd. to the south of Industry St.

The closure starts tomorrow, April 16 and is planned to last until May 17 as work is being carried out as part of the Metrolinx Electrification project needed along the GO train line.

Hydro work here will see aboveground powerlines converted to underground infrastructure to support the electrification project.

The detour route will be along South Service Rd. E., Trafalgar Rd. and Cornwall Rd.

The route, in the east side of Oakville, is a quiet through road used by drivers to get across the train tracks without having to use the busier Trafalgar Rd. or Ford Dr. to get to north/south destinations and as is often used local commuters to reach the Ford Assembly Complex on South Service Rd. E.
