This year, the Civic Holiday falls on Monday, August 5, 2019! Here’s a list of what’s open and closed in Burlington, Oakville, Milton, and Halton Hills.


Open:

  • All outdoor pools in Oakville
  • Milton’s Rotary Park Pool from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Toronto Premium Outlets in Halton Hills from 10:00 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Mapleview Centre 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Burlington Centre 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Oakville Place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Mapleview Centre from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Burlington parks and facilities (varying schedules)
  • Most grocery stores (call ahead)
  • Some Shoppers Drug Marts (call ahead)
  • Movie theatres (call ahead)
  • Select LCBO locations (call ahead to be sure)
  • Most bars and restaurants are open regular hours, but call ahead to be sure

 

  • Other major malls that are open: 
    – Square One (10 a.m. – 9 p.m.)
    – Bramalea City Centre (11 a.m. – 6 p.m.)
    – Vaughan Mills (10 a.m. – 7 p.m.)
    – Sherway Gardens (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
    – Yorkdale Shopping Centre (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
    – Eaton Centre (11 a.m. – 7 p.m.)
    – Pacific Mall (11 a.m. – 8 p.m.)

Closed:

  • Oakville Town Hall

  • Oakville arenas
  • All indoor Oakville pools
  • Oakville seniors’ centres
  • Oakville youth centres
  • Parking garage at 300 Church St. (Oakville)
  • All Oakville libraries
  • Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts
  • First Ontario Arts Centre Milton
  • Milton Sports Centre
  • Milton Public Library
  • All branches of the Burlington Public Library
  • Burlington city Hall
  • Halton Court Services
  • No mail delivery
  • Garbage and recycling (blue box, green bin and yard waste) will be collected one day later

Transit:

  • Oakville Transit will operate on a holiday schedule (8 am to 8 pm)
  • Burlington Transit will operate on a holiday schedule
  • Milton Transit will not operate 
  • GO Transit will operate on a Saturday schedule

NOTE:

  • Free parking will be available in the downtown (Burlington) core at all pay machines located on the street, municipal lots and the parking garage on weekends and holidays.
  • The Burlington waterfront parking lots (east and west) do not provide free parking on statutory holidays.
