Perhaps your weekend plans include a run or stroll – pumpkin spice latte in hand – along Oakville’s paths or trails this weekend.

Or they may involve avoidng physical activity and curling up on the couch for a daytime Netflix binge … until you realize it’s autumn and winter is coming so you should get outdoors while you can.

Either way, you may want to read this first.

Water levels in Lake Ontario have started to recede, however, they remain higher than normal and some areas are still prone to flooding and ponding when heavy rainfall is combined with easterly winds, according to the Town of Oakville.

With lakeside parks being inspected twice daily, the town is planning to re-open parks as soon as it’s safe to do so.

Here’s a list of what’s still off-limits:

  • Coronation Park is partially closed, including the splash pad. Two areas along the lakefront remain closed.
  • Gairloch Gardens (the closed area has been reduced but shoreline access is still closed).
  • Dingle Park (trail closed from Allan Street to Trafalgar Road)
  • Carrington Promenade (westerly portion)
  • Bronte Harbour launch ramp
  • Timber Lane – West Street pathway

Areas that are taped or fenced off may be unsafe. Residents are asked to respect the closures so that no one gets hurt.
