‘Whiteout conditions’: Multiple vehicles stuck in snow in Milton

Motorists are asked to travel cautiously in Milton in the midst of a strong snowstorm this afternoon (Feb. 19).
Police say there are whiteout conditions and numerous vehicles stuck in the snow on Eighth Line between Lower Baseline Rd and Derry Rd in Milton.
Trafalgar Rd between Lower Baseline Rd and Derry Rd is also experiencing similar conditions.
“Choose an alternate route if you need to travel,” police advise.
A winter weather advisory was issued today for rapid snowfall amounts of 2 to 4 cm, with the snow being blown around by strong westerly winds gusting up to 70 km/h.
Visibility is heavily reduced due to the blowing snow.

The cause of the harsh weather is a sharp cold front tracking over southern Ontario, bringing areas of heavy snow and blowing snow that will continue until later in the afternoon.
Residents are advised to consider postponing non-essential travel until the storm passes.
