Why are garbage bags piled up in a Milton park?

If you want to know why garbage bags are piled up in a Milton dog park each weekend it’s because of volunteers.

Several residents have noticed the large number of garbage bags that are collected and stacked each weekend at Sunny Mount Park on Ruhl Dr.

While some have suspected illegal dumping, the bags are actually part of a clean-up of the dog park that is undertaken by community volunteers.

“It’s a normal practice by volunteers who clean the dog park on Sunday evenings,” a spokesperson for the Town of Milton reports.

Once the waste is collected, the volunteers leave the bags stacked near a garbage receptacle to be picked up during the week during regular neighbourhood collection periods or by Town staff.

“Sometimes the pickup day changes based on priorities and staffing levels,” the Town spokesperson said.
