A drone is being used to capture images of flooding in Oakville starting on Monday.
A drone is being used to capture images of flooding in Oakville starting on Monday.
It’s a “very small, quiet, battery-operated vehicle with an onboard camera,” according to a news release.
“It will not fly over public spaces and will not capture any images of people, homes or yards.”
Archival aerial photographs and video footage will be filmed from June 12 to June 23, weather permitting.

Areas impacted by the high water levels of Lake Ontario include:
- Coronation Park
- Gairloch Gardens
- Bronte inner Harbour – pier, Bronte Beach Park and bluffs
- Oakville Harbour – pier, waterfront, Lakeside Park, Shipyard Park
DroneBoy, a commercial drone operator approved by Transport Canada and NavCanada, is overseeing the project.
Filming is taking place on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. for no more than four hours at a time.
