Dead body found by Lake Ontario in Mississauga.

A woman escaped an attempted armed carjacking in Oakville Saturday night after four men in medical masks surrounded her car and told her to get out.

She was forcibly dragged from her vehicle, but promptly ran to a nearby restaurant, taking her purse and keys with her, Halton Regional Police said.

The woman had just got back into her Mercedes sedan in a parking lot on Kerr Street near Shepherd Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. when a pick-up truck blocked her in. Four men then got out of the truck and surrounded her vehicle. Two of them pointed guns at her from the passenger side, threatened her and told her to get out, according to police.

The suspects then opened the doors and pulled her out of the vehicle.

Her daring escape left the suspects empty-handed, so they were forced to flee the scene. No arrests were made and no descriptions of the suspects have been released.

The incident is the latest in a string of auto thefts and carjackings that have plagued Oakville and Burlington in recent weeks.
