An anti-drunk driving group is looking for young people to sit on its youth council in Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills.

MADD Halton Region has launched the MADD Halton Youth Council (MHYC).

The council will meet on a monthly basis to discuss various aspects of impaired driving. Council members will have the opportunity to interact with various professionals and community leaders from numerous fields to learn and question the significant impact they make.

MHYC members will also have the opportunity to host an event in tandem with MADD Halton Region to spread its message at their educational institute or workplace. Approved projects will be funded by MADD Halton Region.

Successful applicants will be between 14 – 21 years old, with no impaired-driving-related charges or convictions and preferably a student in the Halton District School Board or Halton Catholic District School Board

In addition to helping out MADD, committee members will receive reference letters, volunteer hours, and prizes throughout the year.

Volunteer roles with MADD Halton Region may be available after completion. Additionally, there will be various networking opportunities to engage with individuals who may be in your desired career.

The MHYC will require members to attend monthly table topic meetings, about 90-minutes each, for the duration of the school year, excluding September, December, and June. Overall, members should estimate 15-20 volunteer hours throughout the year.
