AfroJazz Fest will showcase African, Caribbean cultures at annual Milton event

The annual AfroJazz Fest is returning to Milton the weekend of Aug. 26-27.

The goal of AfroJazz Fest is to showcase the beauty and diversity of African and Caribbean cultures in Halton Region through performing arts, visual arts, music, food, storytelling and more.

The event, one of the largest multicultural festivals in Ontario, brings together artists from more than a dozen ethno-cultural communities who will entertain the public and instill pride in Afro-Caribbean history and culture through performing arts, visual arts, music, food, storytelling and more.

The program includes a cultural and dance parade, live musical performances (zouk, kompa, rumba, soca dance, calypso, tropical escape show, salsa, reggae, Afro-soul, and traditional African music, along with interactive activities (drum circle, traditional African and Caribbean dance workshop), family entertainment and activities for children.

The free event is being held at Milton Community Sports Park, 805 Santa Maria Blvd. and runs Saturday, Aug. 26 from noon to 9 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 27, from noon to 7 p.m.
