Action film star Arnold Schwarzenegger was spotted in a southern Ontario town this week filming for the next season of a Netflix series.

Known as a body-builder and star of iconic films such as The Terminator, Schwarzenegger was seen filming in Elora, a small town near Guelph. He is reportedly filming for the Netflix series FUBAR outside the town hall.

A notice from the local government, Centre Wellington, said there will be preparation and filming for “an upcoming production” from April 26 to May 2 at the Municipal Office in Elora, 1 MacDonald Square. A complete road closure was scheduled from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30 and Wednesday, May 1.

The notice didn’t name the production and signs in Elora reportedly call it “Oink”. Film crews often use a decoy name so people are not alerted in advance to the real production. But multiple news reports indicate it is FUBAR.

The first season of the action-comedy series FUBAR was released on Netflix in 2023.

Schwarzenegger plays Luke Brunner, a CIA Operative who hides his career from his daughter. Soon after he learns his daughter Emma Brunner, played by Monica Barbaro, is also in the CIA and they are forced to work together as partners.

The second season’s filming dates are from April 29 to Aug. 12, 2024, according to IMDb.

Schwarzenegger, who recently had a pacemaker implanted to help manage his irregular heartbeat, announced his return to filming on Instagram earlier this month.

“I’ve gotten so many kind messages from all over the world, but a lot of people have asked if my pacemaker will cause any problems with FUBAR Season 2. Absolutely not,” Schwarzenegger said on Instagram. “I will be ready to film in April, and you can only see it if you’re really looking for it.”

It is not clear where the series will film next. In 2022, it filmed at several key locations in Mississauga and Oakville, including Sherwood Village (formerly the Sheridan Centre) and Colossus Greek Taverna. It was also partially filmed in Belgium in 2022.

The production is not currently listed on the Ontario Creates website, which posts upcoming filming locations and schedules in the province.
