A baseball diamond at a Burlington is getting some long-awaited repairs.

The diamond at Kinsmen Park is the location as the City of Burlington looks to get the field ready in the near future.

A report on the project shows the playing field has been closed since the summer of 2020 because the playing surface and fencing around the field were deemed unsafe.

As part of the City’s asset renewal program for park infrastructure, this park was identified as a priority.

Work at the park includes extensive field reconstruction and sod replacement. It could begin in August and take until November to complete. It is expected to return to baseball use in time for the 2024 season.

The cost of the project is $404,000.

Final approval to commence the work still has to be given by City council.
