As the City of Burlington continues to resume services during COVID-19, Burlington Transit is looking to reopen its Downtown Terminal, increase schedules and resume fare collection.
Burlington Transit’s Downtown Terminal on John St. will reopen on Aug. 19 with limited services.
The Terminal will be open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. “using provincial and city COVID-19 safety procedures,” according to the city.
Transit customers are asked to wear a mask, use hand sanitizer often, and give staff their name and phone number for contact tracing.
“We know our residents rely on transit to get to work and their activities, and reintroducing fares allows us to provide more spaces on our bus while also keeping physical distancing,” said Burington Mayor Marianne Meed Ward.

“Fares remain free for our low-income residents and seniors. A reminder to everyone that masks are mandatory on transit, including for drivers unless they are behind a physical barrier.”
The Downtown Terminal will be offering:
- SPLIT Passes
- ePurse Loads
- Free Seniors Pass
- Lost & Found
At this time payment options are limited to debit and credit only.
Burlington Transit will be adding more service on all Burlington Transit routes starting Aug. 23.

Meanwhile, starting Sept. 1, Burlington Transit will be collecting fares on all buses. Riders can pay their fares using a PRESTO card or cash.
