Local residents don't want the Reid Road Quarry, left, to reopen and potentially turn into something resembling the open pit on the right.

The two main contenders running for the open MPP seat in Milton will be at a public meeting tonight.

The meeting is being hosted by ACTION Milton, a group opposed to the reopening of the Reid Road Quarry in Campbellville.

Expected to be in attendance are two candidates vying to replace Parm Gill at Milton MPP, PC Zeeshan Hamid, and Liberal Galen Naidoo Harris. It is the first time the two will be together since their candidacies were announced.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, at Country Heritage Park, 8560 Tremaine Rd.

Also in attendance will be the chair of ACTION Milton George Minakakis, lawyer David Donnelly, and Mike Schreiner, leader of the Green Party of Ontario.
