Classic Canadian rockers Big Sugar in Oakville next week

Legendary Canadian rock band Big Sugar is coming to Oakville next week and tickets are still available.
Big Sugar’s sound has been described as a blend of blues and rock, anchored by a reggae groove and was formed in Toronto in the early 1990s.
The most successful album for the group was 1996’s Hemi-Vision, which earned them one of their five Juno Award nominations. The single Diggin’ a Hole peaked at No. 9 on the Canadian music charts.
The group’s only hit in the U.S. was off their followup album, Heated, when Better Get Used to It hit No. 26.
Although the lineup changed over the years, the one constant was singer-songwriter Gordie Johnson. who was inducted into the Canada South Blues Society Hall of Fame in 2010.
The current tour is in support of Five Hundred Pounds deluxe vinyl release from Third Man Records. The two-set theatrical presentations spans their storied career from their Hugo Boss suit days to their more recent roots-rock-reggae vibes.
Johnson’s power trio breathe life into their early blues and jazz tinged songbook that has influenced generations of guitarists including Jack White, The Black Crowes, Gov’t Mule and ZZ Top.
Big Sugar is playing at Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26.
