Oakville Mexican restaurant closes

A Mexican restaurant popular with students at Oakville’s Sheridan College has gone out of business.

The Habanero Taqueria, located at 1289 Marlborough Ct., directly across Trafalgar Rd. from Sheridan College, permanently shut its doors earlier this month, a decision made voluntarily, according to the owner.

On its website, the following message has been posted by owner Peter Di Vincenzo, “The Habanero Taqueria will be closing permanently. Due to the timing, more notice wasn’t possible, and for this I’m sorry.

“The decision to close was a choice and not a forced one. Thank you for your loyalty and support over the past 12 years. I’m very grateful and have been truly blessed to have met so many fantastic people. I will miss you. Thank you, all the best!”

The restaurant offered a wide array classic Mexican dishes like burritos, tacos and quesadillas with fillings including chicken, pulled port, barbacoa, steak, shrimp and haddock.

There is no indication what might replace the restaurant in the plaza.
