COVID-19 cases in Durham Region stable, with confirmed cases down but one new death

COVID-19 cases in Durham Region are considered stable, with new cases decreasing to 86 during the past week with one death from the virus.

There have been 14 COVID-related deaths in the last five months.

There are three COVID outbreaks at local retirement centres, hospitals and long-term care homes and four people have been hospitalized. Since the end of August there have been 178 Durham residents who have been admitted to local hospitals with the virus.

Influenza numbers are also considered stable, with 65 confirmed cases (699 in the past five months) and a per cent positivity rate of 12.4 per cent. There are no flu outbreaks and the signals from the region’s wastewater plants in Whitby and Clarington are considered stable.
