Deadly collision claims life of Oakville motorcycle rider, Burlington man charged

A Burlington man has been charged with impaired driving causing death and dangerous driving causing death following a collision in Bronte Wednesday afternoon (June 7) that claimed the life of an Oakville man.

The rider of a Vespa motorcycle involved in the crash, a 58-year-old resident of Oakville, was transported to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Christian Cardinali, 25, of Burlington was arrested and charged in the crash involving a motorcycle and two passenger vehicles that happened around 1:40 p.m. in the area of Lakeshore Rd. W. and Windsor Gate.

“(A) preliminary investigation indicated that a head-on collision occurred between a westbound Vespa motorcycle and an eastbound Nissan Rogue SUV,” Halton Regional Police said in a media release.

“An additional vehicle was also damaged as a result of the initial collision.”

The Collision Reconstruction Unit has assumed carriage of the investigation.
