Do You Hate Your Job?
If you’re only as good as the company you keep then Canadian businesses might be in trouble.
According to research from staffing firm Accountemps, workers are disengaged at their jobs 28 per cent of the time.
The firm said this can result in lost productivity, low morale and high turnover.
Employees polled say better perks, less bureaucracy and more challenging assignments would help boost engagement levels.
The chart below shows some interesting results.
Fifty-three per cent of people aged 18 to 34 said better perks would help their motivation most at work, followed by more challenging work (36 per cent).
“Engaged workers set the tone for a more positive, collaborative and productive organization at every level,” said Accountemps Canada president David King. “Cultivating employee commitment should be an ongoing priority for business leaders.”
The survey was developed by Accountemps and conducted by an independent research firm. It includes responses from more than 550 Canadian workers age 18 and older who work in an office environment.
